Lauren earned her Bachelor’s of Science at Texas Christian University then went on to complete her Master’s in Nursing and graduated with distinction from DePaul University in Chicago. While practicing as an RN she pursued Post Master’s work at the University of South Alabama and became a board certified psychiatric nurse practitioner licensed to see all ages. Lauren completed an internship at Northwestern Memorial Hospital and was then recruited by UCLA to work as the first psychiatric provider to serve on the emergency department/trauma service. Lauren has experience treating children and adults in both outpatient and inpatient settings. She has specialized in consult liaison work and emergency psychiatry and is licensed to practice in California and Illinois.
Lauren utilizes an integrative and holistic approach to treating the mind and body. She enjoys collaborating with patients through the use of evidence-based medication management, complimentary treatments and lifestyle management in order to address concerns and achieve an individual’s goals. When working with Lauren you can expect a comprehensive but compassionate experience. She is board certified to treat children, adolescents and adults of all ages and has experience working with a variety of cultural backgrounds. Lauren specializes in treating depression, anxiety, mood disorders, substance use disorders, and PTSD.
Lauren is an active member of the Sigma Theta Tau International Honor Society of Nursing, American Psychiatric Nurses Association (APNA), California Nurses Association (CNA), American Holistic Nurses Association (AHNA), and American Association of Nurse Practitioners (AANP). Lauren has also completed certification for Trauma Informed Yoga.
Lauren grew up in a career military family and had the opportunity to live in many different states and countries. Her interest in mental health started while working as an RN at the VA and witnessing the far reaching effects of untreated mental illness. She then pursued research in the phenomenological experience of those experiencing psychiatric crisis and her career as an NP was launched. Today she enjoys connecting with military families and helping to instill health and hope in the unique circumstances these families face. When Lauren isn’t seeing patients you can find her reading, staying physically fit, trying a new recipe or pursuing outdoor adventures.
