David earned his Masters Degree in Counseling Psychology in 2015 from Argosy University in San Diego. David completed his internship working at a residential drug and alcohol rehabilitation facility. He has worked in multiple settings to include working with Survivors of Torture International providing trauma based treatment for Post Truamatic Stress Disorder (PTSD), working with individuals with Traumatic Brain Injury (TBI) and chronic pain in workers compensation status and working with military members and their families. David received his LMFT license in 2018 and is licensed to practice in California.

David is a licensed marriage and family therapist with over 10 years of experience providing mental health and drug and alcohol rehabilitation care in diverse settings to include inpatient hospitalization, residential, partial hospitalization and both intensive inpatient and outpatient programs as well as private practice. David has worked with diverse populations experiencing trauma and PTSD providing a mix of therapeutic modalities to include: Acceptance and Commitment Therapy (ACT), Cognitive Behavioral Therapy (CBT), Dialectical Behavioral Therapy (DBT), Gottman Method, Person-Centered Rogerian approach and other evidenced based therapeutic concepts such as mindfulness and guided meditation. David is trained in trauma-specific interventions, including, Eye Movement Desensitization and Reprogramming (EMDR).

David is a member of The International Association of Marriage and Family Counselors (IAMFC).

David joined the US Navy at age 18 and completed a 20 year naval career. David decided to become a therapist after leaving the service and settled in San Diego. David likes to work on classic cars, hiking and spending time with family and friends.

I believe in empowering individuals to face their challenges while accepting the reality of things. Life is probably not going to be perfect but we can work to make it as good as it can be!  I am a firm believer in learning from our past mistakes and learning to advocate for ourselves in order to live our best life according to what we value the most.
