Dr. Hawley earned her PhD in Counseling, Clinical, and School Psychology from the University of California, Santa Barbara. Her training and research focused on integrating strengths-based interventions into various psychotherapy approaches. She pursued her clinical residency with an emphasis on multiculturally responsive treatment at the University of Hawaiʻi at Mānoa. She then completed her postdoctoral training in systemic and organizational approaches to psychological health and well-being at the University of California, San Francisco. Dr. Hawley has worked as a behavioral health clinician at community mental health clinics, universities, hospitals, and employee assistance programs. She has served in clinical leadership positions throughout her career and most recently served as Director of a community mental health organization before joining Bahia Health.
Dr. Hawley has worked in the psychology field for almost 20 years. Her specialties include Anxiety, Obsessive Compulsive Disorder, Attention Deficit Hyperactivity Disorder, Self-Worth, Self-Criticism and Perfectionism, Work and School Concerns, Grief, Life Transitions, Relationship Concerns, Stress Management, and Emotion Regulation. Dr. Hawley is collaborative in her treatment approach, taking time to understand each client as a whole person, and drawing on various evidence-based practices to tailor treatment to each individual’s goals and needs. She works from a strengths-based lens and incorporates interventions from Acceptance and Commitment Therapy, Cognitive Behavioral Therapy, and Narrative Therapy. Dr. Hawley also has expertise in supervising clinical psychology trainees.
Dr. Hawley believes in the healing powers of human connection, nature, and movement. She has prioritized these values from a young age and continues to incorporate them into her life through her work as a psychologist, her relationships with family and friends, and making time for the ocean, dance, and beach volleyball. Dr. Hawley feels grateful every day to collaborate with her clients as they not only explore their pain, but also reacquaint themselves with their strengths.
